Hello - I have recently experienced an engine failure with my 1.8 VVT-i Verso after only 51,000 miles. The car is 5 yrs 8 months old so just out of its 5 year warranty. Toyota are not taking any responsibility for what in my opinion is clearly a failure of the engine with an issue that is known to them, possibly the same issue that occured to their range prior to 2006 with piston ring design causing excessive oil burning. The car has a full service & MOT history with Toyota so whatever problem there was should have been picked up by them.

I therefore want to take the fight to Toyota but thus far I have had little success as the Customer Relations department is not willing to share any contact details of the decision makers within the organisation. Would anyone out there now of the contact details of someone who could seriously consider our case?

On the Rav diesel engines, they extended the waranty to 7 years or 112k miles, and you basically get a new engine, it also covers the petrol engine, Have a look at Charlies thread in the Rav section, maybe it will give you a guide on what to do.
