2001 Avensis Steering Knocking

Hello everyone,

My 2001 D4D makes a knocking noise when turning the steering wheel, particularly when turning full lock etc.

I've read on here that a good thing to try is greasing the steering column/rack, but the old post on here is so old the images don't load anymore, and I can't find any info regarding how to do this. Does anyone have any diagrams / manuals that explain this? Is it easy?

cheers

Don't know if this is similar to my problem. In my Avensis the steering starts to make a metallic click every winter when it

gets to -20 Celcius. Solution is to lubricate joints located in the engine compartment. Especially the point near

the firewall (vaseline needs to be sprayed upwards). This makes the noise go away for a year.

It's easy (once you know how1) - Re-post if you need any specifics.
