Hi,

My y-reg Yaris (freetronic version) broken down yesterday on m6 , AA towed my car to the nearest garage (not a toyota dealer as the nearest toyota dealer is 30 miles away!

I suspect it is a clutch problem as the car do not respond to any gear now. Can anyone shed some lights on how much it will cost to replace/fix the clutch on a freetronic version (and how much)? Do i have to pass the car to toyota dealer to do the job?

Regards,

heydi

Probably a Toyota job; The Freetronic system isn't that widespread so it tends to be a specialist Toyota thing to sort out, and it will not be cheap.

If it's just the clutch plate or something it should be okay, but if the actual Freetronic system is broken it may be a couple of grand to repair

There're quite a few posts from people with Freetronic problems; Might be worth a look to see if they are any help. The most common issues seem to be a weak Battery or loss of hydraulic fluid.

Sadly, the general advice with Freetronic cars is to get rid of them!

Hi Cyker,

Thanks for the advice..The garage come back to me this morning saying that they could try to replace the clutch for 500 quid inc part and labour, but they can't guarantee it will work. Worse case it will need to send to toyota for further fix, which will cost quite some time and money...

It is a 10+ years yaris with 70+K on the clock.. and i am 200 miles away from home.

even it is fixed in good working order i guess it is worth less than 1000 quid.

As you suggest, I would probably sell the car to the garage and rent a car home.
