Is the Aygo fitted with an audible seat bet not fastened warning in the form of beeps that get faster the longer you leave it unfastened?

I am convinced mine used to do it but now it does not.

I moved the car at work the other day and did about 20mph for about 300 yards but there was no beeps.

Mine beeps and has a red light on the dash when the drivers belt isn't fastened. normally takes 100m to start beeping though.

Do the following for disabling/enabling the seatbelt beeper:-

1) Turn the power on (ie ignition to ACC, do not start engine)

2) Set the trip meter to ODO (using ODO/trip button)

3) Power off ignition

4) Turn power on

5) Hold down the ODO/TRIP button for 10 seconds

6) While Keeping the ODO/TRIP button down , put the drivers seat belt on (plug in the belt)

7) You will see b_on/b_off choice in the ODO LCD display, make your choice with the ODO/Trip button

Telling people how to turn off a safety feature.

Why?

You shouldn't be driving with your seat belt off anyway, as it is illegal (see Highway Code Section 99), so why should the beeping bother you.

If you drive legally, you should never even hear it.

Then why did Toyota give us the option to turn off the bleep ?...

You pays your money and takes your choice

Meh,

Mercedes give an option to turn off absolutely all electronic aids. Still doesn't mean they recommend doing so.

We have a sizeable driveway and sometimes when we swap cars about I might flout all health & safety laws by not wearing my seat belt. I know, crazy you say to drive at 5 MPH with no seat belt.

I can land a Westland Gazelle on a £1 coin but I can't park my AYGO without the rear sensors - finally I can hear the faint parking buzzer over the deafening sound of a seat belt warning klaxon.

Hello, You're missing the point,

You have a choice, I didn't say it was wise to do it - just that you can.

You can jump out of a plane without a parachute but I wouldn't recommend that either...

No, you are missing the point. If there was a simple on/off switch, similar to disabling the front passenger airbag then fair enough.

The procedure you describe is not that simple, if the manufacturer intended the sound to be muted then an easier means would be provided. So a choice is not readily available if the muting procedure is not known.

I personally don't like beeps and noises, e.g. mobile 'phone keypad etc., but to describe how to disable, what is intended to be a safety warning I think is irresponsible.

Please get a life ,

No one forces you to do it, if you don't want to then don't.

We are all big boys here and if someone wants to follow a fully documented Toyota instruction then let them ...

Way too much nanny state influence I think......
