I Engine Malfunction

Recommended Posts

I am a very dissapointed customer and I wanted to share this with all the world if possible!

The engine of my 4 year old brand new Aygo, which has on 19,000km or 12,000 miles, exploded a month ago while I was driving.

I contacted the Maltese Dealer Micheal Debono Ltd and also I was in contact with the UK company but no one helped me!

No one cared that such a serious thing happened after only 19,000km!

I had to pay all the expenses which amounted to 2000EUR and no one even bothered.

I can assure you that I will never buy a Toyota again and I will keep on telling other people not to buy a toyota because I don't want anyone to go through all this hassle which unfortunately I had to endure.

HI Chantelle, sorry about your engine problem. Did your dealer tell you what caused the engine failure.

You could post about this on the Aygo forum and share your experiance with other owners.

Moved to Aygo Forum

Had your car been fully dealer serviced for the 4 years that you owned it?( In the UK the servicing is required every year or 10000 miles whichever comes first)

Engine failure is a rare occurrence .......exactly what failed? It is difficult to diagnose failure without more description of what exactly failed.

Were the correct fluid levels maintained and checked regularly?

Toyota are usually quite helpful if the car has been serviced regularly, In the UK we now have a 5 year warranty with our cars which would have covered your problem.

Did you get an independent assessment done on the reasons for failure?

Sorry to hear of your disappointment with Toyota...........There are many on this forum who would not share your disappointment and are very satisfied with their Toyota's

Thanks for the 'warning', but as there is someone with that or a similar tale to tell about every car make and model on the planet what car do you recommend instead?

Unfortunately the only sure(ish) way to avoid the risk of expensive repairs on any piece of equipment is to sell it before the warranty expires.

Agree with Red Yaris 54. We are not only not hearing the whole story we are told very little of the actual facts. It is difficult to believe that if the car was correctly serviced and maintained that Toyota would not have contributed something to an engine failure at this low mileage.

Unless more details are supplied I feel this posting should be removed

Sorry to hear about your engine problem but to be fair its a very rare for a Toyota engine to go bang, you must be seen as very very unlucky. Toyota are one of the most reliable manufacturers on the plant so a bit harsh to slate them for a one off failure.

As others have asked, did it have service history, was the oil light working, did you keep an eye on the engine overheating dash light. Have Toyota given an eexplanationof whats happened.
