Hi to everyone in TOC world. As a new member this is my first post, so be gentle... Having had a drive of my brothers Mazda 3 2.2d 185 sport i was suitably impressed with the performance and economy of the 2.2l lump and decided that my next car would be comparable. After trawling the small adds i eventually purchased an 09 plate Auris SR180 with 27k on the clock. Although generally i'm loving the vehicle, it does seem to be slightly lagging behind the Mazda in performance and economy. I have been reading through the TOC forum for any hints on the cause and found several posts suggesting cleaning the EGR as a starting point.

I came across a great step by step guide posted by 'RickD4D'

http://www.toyotaown...howtopic=106241

however after removing the beautification cover from the engine i noticed that my EGR valve is different to RickD4D's

(not sure if the images will post, not got the hang of it yet  )

Could anyone point me in the direction of guide for my EGR, and any further tips i.e. should the DPF also be cleaned should i put an additive into the fuel like BG244. Any hints will be greatly received, i cant have my bro having all the bragging rights.

i'm sticking with the SR180, prior to that i owned a mazda 6, but i wanted something smaller, faster, more economical, etc, etc.
