Hey everyone ,

About 2 months ive bought a celica vvtli 02 and just done 140k on her

but im having few issues on her that im gonna mention.

1st is . If i go over 60mph i start to feel some vibration on the steering wheel and pedals , ive just done MOT and it pass with advisors on front tyres nearly on the limit " could this be the prob ? "

ps ; ive done a balance and still the same.

Car came w/ Azuka racing 18" and Eibach pro suspension, dunno if this can be the cause of the prob too.

2nd is . When car gets warm and radiator fans turn on, she starts shake a bit and my RPM goes a crazy and it moves from 0,5 to 1 RPM and sometimes it stalls.

3rd is . When i start the car for the 1st time of the day she makes a wierd noise like when you keep tryin to start the car when its already running. " could this be the starter ? "

And the 4th and 5th is . CELICAS ARE ONE OF THE BEST they are so enjoyable to drive.

Hope you guys can give me some help about it.

Best Regards Bruno.

Please ignore this post and see the one below. Stupid upgrade to the forum, too easy to repost the same damn thing twice.

1. Get new tyres and then get a 4 wheel full geometry alignment. Any Merityre centre can do this for between £30-60.

I doubt the suspension you have is the issue, unless the front shocks are leaking?

2. Sounds like you have a poor Battery or possibly a poor alternator. When the fans come on they are drawing lots of current and it sounds like there isnt enough left to keep the engine running properly. Try and borrow another Battery to test this out.

Does the car otherwise run ok? When was it last serviced?

3. The weird starter noise when your first start it up could be the bottom end on its way out. You hear it as it takes a moment for oil pressure to build and before its built you have metal on metal.

IIm guessing this is a 140bhp 1ZZ-GE VVTI and not a 190bhp 2ZZ-GE VVTLI?

  • 4 months later...

I would look at engine mounts as a possibility as they make vibration bad when they are going bad. Also wheel bearings can cause the same but maybe not on start up.
