'95 Celica Cabriolet Water Leak

Hi, just bought a Cabriolet..been looking for a good one for ages. Only snag is that there is a lot of water in both rear wheel tyre wells (accessed through the flaps in the trim on either side of the boot)...any ideas how its leaking in there? There's cracked mastic at the base of the rear of the hood so wonder if it's coming through there? Also, have folks experience of the best hood restorer..it's in good condition but more grey than black!

Check under the boot struts (I assume the cabriolet still has them). If they've been replaced and not perfectly lined up then water can get in under them. I put a little silicone sealant under mine before refitting to prevent this.

Thanks for the reply Leeky. Not sure what you mean by boot struts? Suspension struts? If so, doubt they've been replaced as the car is pretty much standard.

Do you have gas struts to hold the boot open? These are what i meant.

Thanks for clarification. Know what you mean now. Yes, it has gas struts and I've just put sealant around the base so hopefully that will give a cure. Cheers.
