Corolla Verso Wont Start

Went out in car today started no problem drove it to my mothers house 1 mile down road. After visiting I went to start car again & it wouldn't do anything. Put key in slot, foot on clutch to get green light on start button then hit start lights come on dash but nothing else happens. There is not even any attempt of engine turning to start the car. I have tried jump leads but still nothing. Any clues as to what could be wrong woyld ne much appreciated. Kind regards Donald
