Crankshaft Sensor

hi everyone im new to forum

i have a problem with my avensis 05 1.6 strata i have a fault code p0016 crankshaft sensor i cant find a crankshaft sensor ,i found a knock sensor in valve cover switched that not the problem can anyone tell me where the crank sensor is ,or is there one on the car thanks in advance

its ok i found it on the timing cover behind alternator hard to get out ,new one ordered thanks

Be careful, it may not be the crank sensor itself having a problem. The crank sensor cross references the cam sensor in the head cover to understand the valve timing in the vvt system.

Potential issues could be:

Crank sensor

Cam sensor

Wire harness

ecu

The crank sensor is pretty simple. If the engine turns over and fires then chances are the crank sensor is working. Have you tried resetting the fault code and watching for it coming back?
