Aerial Base

Recently the car wash snapped my aerial off, which also cracked the base plate and snapped the wire inside so it needs replacing (no damage to roof). Does anyone know where i can find a replacement, also i would assume it is just held by a bolt under the roof liner so would be pretty simple to replace? If anyone could give some info on where to finda replacement with paying an arm and a leg it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

It's custom to the RAV4, with a single bolt and two locating pegs. Look for a RAV4 breaking on eBay.

I think the 5 door has the antenna in the glass, and the 3 door has it on the roof, but you'd need to double check. There are two connections under the antenna and it is bolted to the roof from underneath.

You can gently lower the headliner to gain access to undo the connectors and the bolts.

I believe that the Toyota aerial base contains an active amplifier and is therefore very expensive. I had a similar problem with my Golf and I tried buying a cheap amplified base off eBay. Unfortunately, all the advertised parts I have come across (costing £10 -£20) are very poor quality and don't work.

I took one apart and while the original OEM component has a complex surface mount amplifier with tens of components to compensate for the short aerial etc. The cheap product contains a couple of cheap transistors and looks like it was made in a shed !!

I would recommend the breakers route.
