First Uk Drive Review: Toyota Yaris Hybrid T Spirit

Apparantly it's only driven by 60 year old females according to the article!

Guess if we're being stereotypical I guess the magazine would class its favourite vehicle; the Audi as being driven by pretentious pri**s who think they're something they're not and BMW's as impatient .....oh I think you get the picture.

"Driving the Yaris is effortless, as to be expected from a car bought mostly by 60-something females."

Yeah, I don't believe that.

Edit: Beaten to it by Grumpy :)

"Potholes are barely felt by occupants" - Unless the Hybrid version has very different suspension to the normal Mk3 I'm calling BS; It has lower profile-tyres than the normal Mk3 and everyone else who's driven on has said the ride in the Mk3 is much harsher already!

Is the 1.5L Atkinson-cycle too? That would explain the high-revving under load. Hope it's quieter than they make it out to be in that article! Although if it's anything like my Mk1, at speed the road noise will drown out the engine easily anyway

I'm heavy on the right foot and I only get my Prius to scream if you totally floor it continuously. But there is no need. Even pulling out of junctions into heavy traffic you just 3/4 floor it, the car picks up very quickly and quietley and you're at 50 or 60 mph before you know it. The journo's just hammer it because they hate what it stands for and many many many surveys show - journo hates said hybrid, owners reviews love them.

I note that the T Spirit version with the larger wheels does not achieve as low emission figure as the lower end models

That is a pity........but does explain the confusion of one of the comments of the review critics

Yeah, it's a fun fact that larger wheels are actually worse for performance, economy, tyre wear... basically they're worse in everything

About the only advantage of larger rims is you can fit bigger brake discs. Oh, and you can get your arm in to clean the insides easier

@Cabbie - Yeah, esp. as a city car, you'd very rarely be accelerating hard for long!

I personally think it needs at least 50 more Nm on the electric motor tho' :naughty:
