Cracked Windscreen

When I got in the car this morning I found I have a cracked windscreen from the top edge of the screen down about 25 cm.

I think if I claim on my insurance that is one of my claims - I'm allowed 2 in 3 years under my insurance policy.

Is there a way to pay for this to be replaced and not pay the exorbitant prices charged by the windscreen companies?

My car is a 2010 Gen 3 T4

Thanks in advance

Check your policy carefully - a lot of companies don't treat windscreen damage in the same way as other claims

I agree with above. Most (but not all) comprehensive car insurance policies will offer windscreen cover where it doesn't affect your no claims bonus, though there is usually an excess to pay and sometimes rules on which supplier you need to go to. Have a look on your Insurance Certificate and look for a W100 or W60 coding on it somewhere as this will probably indicate you have the windscreen cover and the number is usually the excess amount - W60 is a £60 windscreen excess for example. If you have this coding type, give your insurers a ring and check how to claim.

Be aware that this windscreen cover is just that. It doesn't cover side, rear or even roof glass which would be classed as a traditional claim which would/could affect your bonus.

Thanks for all you replies

I checked with the insurance company and you are all correct - a windscreen claim is not counted as a claim against a No Claims bonus.

£75.00 excess on the screen which is annoying
