Changing From Euro To £

Hi All.

Just taken delivery of a New Prius T3 (is this a gen 3?) and am getting used to it, having driven an automatic Anvensis T3X for the past 9 years. I've still got the Avensis and really enjoy driving it.

I got sat nav added and as I work through setting up the touch screen, how do I change the cost of fuel from Euro to £? I can get to setting the cost of fuel, but it shows it as Euro. How do I get it to display £?

Since I haven't had a reply to my post, I contacted Toyota Customer Services and the response is that they are aware of the issue and it will be addresses as soon as possible. So have all the other gen 3 Prius owners on this forum noticed the problem?

From your description, it sounds like you have the new 2012 updated Prius, so the underlying hybrid technology is the same as the earlier Gen 3, but with a face lift and changed interior equipment/spec.

As you went for an upgrade to Sat-Nav, I think that is the new Toyota Touch system upgraded to a Touch and Go? My understanding is that the Touch, Touch and Go, Touch and Go Pro technology are going to be similar across a range of Toyota models, so it may be worth searching to see if the owners of other new Toyota models have come across the same problem.

Might also be worth asking on Prius Chat.

Touch and Go Pro should be standard across europe.

Hi. Yes it's a 2012 updated Prius with Touch & Go. Maybe Toyota know something we don't know about the UK joining the Euro! Thanks for the advice.

Yep I have the 2012 version as well and noticed the same thing - although I hadn't got round to asking Toyota about it. I did however get a very comprehensive survey through from Ipsos on behalf of Toyota about the new car - and I mentioned it on there.

Point to note though - as it's all done through the main display and not the sat nav display I think this will be common across all models regardless of the Toyota Touch Spec Level.

tone_uk you're right, it's the main display not the sat-nav. Which confused me when I got the response below back from Toyota. I also searched Prius chat and someone there has asked the same question in May, with no response. Maybe uplifted 2012 Prius users can't be bothered or don't use the facility.

"Dear Mr

Thank you for your email dated 26 June 2012 and for taking the trouble to contact Toyota (GB) PLC.

In response to your enquiry regarding the currency in your Satellite Navigation system, I can confirm that our Product Design team are aware of this issue and a solution will be available in due course.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused in the meantime and hope to have a fix available shortly.

Yours sincerely

Joanne Oxer

Customer Relations Executive"

I guess we'll have to just wait and see - on another point - have you noticed that although it asks for price of fuel per litre (to work out €/litre consumption) you actually need to insert the cost of fuel per gallon otherwise it comes back with totally useless results.

At the moment I just pretend that the € is a £ sign and work around that way :)

Did they insist you paid for the car in euros too? I think this is indicative of a serious flaw in QA that cars could actually be released for marketing with this kind of glaringly obvious fault which it turns out Toyota know all about and are seemingly happy to keep on selling faulty goods!

The reply from Toyota seems rather weak.

A serious flaw would be if it was like the entertainment systems that they have on some passenger jets - those ones seem to need rebooting a few times during a flight.

I was refering to Toyotas Quality Assurance regime as being seriously flawed in that Toyota knowingly allow faulty cars to reach the public. This is one fault which has been identified by a customer and which is therefore known about on this forum, how many other faults does this company know about which arent apparent to the buyers of the vehicles but which the manufacturer are happy to sell on to the buyers? My perception of Quality Assurance was that actual quality is assured rather than perceived quality against cost is assured; in other words , if it looks about right, thats good enough since only 1% of the punters will complain.

A € symbol instead of £ symbol is hardly a show stopper. It is all about risk and safety, neither of which would be compromised by this defect. In software terms it would be, at worst, classified as a minor bug and could be fixed with a non-notified software update at the next service interval.

The fact that it took this long to be even mentioned in this forum, indicates how insignificant a defect this is.

My 2p's worth.

Probably shouldn't mention the other 7 bugs I've found in the Nav / Audio system so far then :) LOL

May two favourites are:

1) When you reach your destination - the Nav system proudly proclaims "Now is your destination!" instead of "You have reached your destination" about every 1 in 3 trips.

2) When using bluetooth audio (e.g. an iPhone) and the automatic LED headlamps turn on - it drops the audio connection (before anyone asks - no I can't figure out how the two would be connected either - but hey - it does it every now and again)

None of these are safety issues, and as previously mentioned I think a software update to the Touch & Go system will probably fix these in a jiffy - bit it does raise a point over the levels of QA taking place.

Is it because the T&G system is designed in Europe rather than Japan? The car itself is faultless - it's just the Nav system letting the side down at the moment.
