Reversing Sensors & Reversing A Trailer

Hello,

I have a 2006 RAV4 2,2 diesel. I searched this forum, but cannot find a tread covering this topic, but I suspect my search could have been 'faulty', as I am sure someone else must have had this issue:

When I reverse a large trailer, then the reversing bleeper is squealing constantly. I asked the dealer about this, and he said that sometimes there is a bleeper disabling switch, usually in the boot somewhere, and sometimes not. I cannot find any disabling switch.

Can anyone tell me how to get at the wiring for this blasted bleeper, so I can put in a switch. It is driving me mad.

Hello Stephen and welcome to the club

Usually the switch, if there is one, is on the inside of the left rear door pillar. If you open the rear door and look from the inside you may see it. If not, you can access the wiring/beeper by removing the slotted panel in the left load area trim panel.

When you open the back door, look to the left at floor level.

On the XT5 there is a large pull out panel on the side trim. Below this is a 12V auxilary socket and below that is a circular recess and in that is the cancel switch.
