Hey guys, greetings from Australia! I just bought a 06 Rav4 & Im looking to many years of trouble free motoring (hopefully) Anyway Im thinking about buying one of these units from eBay, http://www.ebay.com....3984.m1423.l264 Just wondering if anyone has some experience with these units, are they worth the money, do they peform well etc, also the add says 2010-11 models but the dash pic looks the same as my 06 model. Is there a change in dash design on the later models? Any help would be appreicated.

Thanks, Mike.

When you buy cheap Chinese goods, please don't e surprised when you open the box and find it's full of cheap Chinese goods. I'm not saying don't buy it, but to lower your expectations.

Actually the mechanics on these things are pretty good, its the internals that have issues. Dead units with no warranties, faulty backlights, alternator whine, FM breakthough to the CD, audio hiss, no BT Audio during GPS, bad ergonomics on the menus.

Not saying this particular unit has any of those; however those faults are often present on these custom fit no-name headunits.

Don't think there is any change in dash design so it should fit physically.

Quality with these units are very suspect though. Don't expect too much!

Hi Mike, welcome to the forum. The other replies are spot on, my only thought is that it may be worth while looking for a genuine unit from a damaged car. The most recent units, I believe have post code recognition, whereas the older models, and mine is a 2007, have only address input. Also the hard drive upgrade for the maps is an expensive process from a Toyota agent, but the map discs on the older model are available as copies and work well, I just got the recent upgrade for £ 35.00, and it works well. Best of luck with the new car.
