Dog Guard Fitting

I recently bought a full sized Toyota dog guard, used, on e bay, and it has arrived without the lower brackets, that fit to the rear seat runners. The seller is being difficult, so can any one supply me with a pattern so I can get some made up, as they are not available separately from Toyota. My car is the 2007 model. Many thanks.

Thanks James, sadly I need the dimensions of the brackets, and hole spacings etc, and that is not available on the thread.

As far as I recall, the OEM guard I had just had a flat plate for the bracket (two off) with a hole drilled in it to screw it onto the guard. These brackets themselves were just attached to heavy duty sticky pads, and the other side of the pad just stuck to the plastic bulk behind the seats. So if you get some pads you just need to place them and measure to the hole on the guard.

Ainsley, maybe you could part fit the guard and then work out the pattern with some thick card.

I'm pretty certain another member had the same problem and made up some brackets but can't remember who...........

Worth invoking the eBay disputes proceedure? After all you haven't been supplied with what you thought were buying.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me so could not fit the guard to mine - haven't got the skill to make some brackets so went back to the seller - to be fair she did try to get me the brackets but failed as she had recently sold the car so gave me a full refund.

I would check the eBay add first of all just to make sure that they haven't actually called this out in the details, i.e. no brackets & if they haven't dispute it all the way - it may take a few weeks but you will get your money back.

Thanks for the feed back everyone. Yes the item was advertised complete, and the seller has said that the brackets are on their way!!! However I am not so sure, and I feel that the only redress will be through eBay, and yes I am sure it will take time. It's a b----r really, and I should have tried the forum first to see if anyone had a guard for sale. Also paid a lot of money for the eBay one, so will have to fight!! :donatello:

The guard I've got that I bought off Hoovie had only one bracket so I manufactured the other one, they are only 3mm thick and about 100mm long rectangular plates with a 5mm hole in each end. Just to note I've never seen any dog guards that attach to the rear seat rails as you described in your initial post, where did you see that info regarding the Rav guard?

This shows the brackets, which should be attached to the rear seat runners. Sadly not available separately from Toyota. I assume that these brackets mean that you don't need to drill the rear panel, or glue, as has been suggested.

With a basic template for hole positioning and the photos I'm sure any metalworker worth his salt could make you a pair of serviceable brackets Ainsley...................

Don't you just love those Toyota installation leaflets - about the best I've ever seen. In fact many manufacturers don't give you anything with their parts (apart from the bill of course).
