Grateful for some comments.

Any specialist firm exists to replace and fit say leather seats for existing grey, grubby cloth seats?

thanks

If you have a good local Toyota dealer have a word with them. I know if you opt for leather they send the seats away to get it done. Maybe they know someone or can do you a deal?

Worth a word if nothing else.

I asked a local retrimming specialist for a quote. They order the covers in from Italy, that are cut to fit exactly to the Prius seats, and wanted :shock horror: £1200. Didn't bother asking anybody else!

That's about the ball park. My local dealers charge £999 but not sure if that's if you buy a car from them or not. I think you can get it done cheaper but I've seen the quality of the local offering and it's good. The door covers and center armrest are also included and it's an all in and fitted price (or was when I last asked them about a year ago).

Put it another way. How much would you pay for a decent leather jacket? Then imagine 5 are needed and then include the labour time to install the seats. That £1,200 quoted isn't that bad assuming they use good leather etc.

You'e right GC - when you break down the figure like that. I just couldn't justify it for something that would get me very little return for whenever I got rid of the car. I've learned to live with the velour, shame as coming from a 5 series I really wanted leather.

As soon as I get myself back on my feet work wise I'll be getting leather put in my car. Sure it's a grand but the velour whilst wearing well is starting to look shabby despite being professionally cleaned. Leather lasts, many people like it but you're right it doesn't quite add value and the gen3's are loosing value quicker than my exwife went through my divorce settlement :)

I have had leather on my Gen 2 and now on my Gen 3. It looks smart stays good. I recommend leather. I was told that on my Gen 3 leather was fitted in UK. My previous Gen 2 was second hand and came with leather.

Depends.

Gen3 leather seats are usually fitted dockside in the UK. But some option packs which include leather seats are factory fitted. The factory fitted gen3 leather seats are also heated (dockside fit are not).
