Abs Problems

Toyota Celica 98, 1.8 SR

Hi All,

I'm new to this so I apologise if this topic has already been answered but I'm not sure how to search for it.

Basically I had an issue with front OS caliper ceasing which resulted in me having to buy and replace all all front pads, discs and calipers. But now the ABS light wont turn off.

I have a feeling I may need to chage the front OS ABS sensor.

1. How to I test for the exact ABS error code? What is the flash code test procedure?

2. How do I reset the ABS light?

Thirdly I have another problem that has occured. The dashlights for the headlights (Sidelights, Dip beam and fogs) do not light up on the dashboad. Has anyone got any ideas as to what the faul could be? All fuses seem to be fine, have I missed somethings? Or do I need to pull the dash out and change the bulbs?

Any help would be much appreciated.

For the dash lights, check the dimmer control. It may have been turned all the way down.

As for the ABS error, this is the procedure for checking and resetting the codes:

Thanks junebug1701,

But the backlight on the dashboard works fine its the actual symbols for the dip beam, side lights and front fog lights that do not illuminate anymore. Any other ideas as to what could be the fault?

As for the ABS I managed to read the error code. Looks like I need to buy a new OSF ABS sensor hopefully this will solve the problem. However I still cannot reset the ABS light.

Any ideas on how to reset the ABS light?

I have followed the instructions for removing the ABS pin, connecting Tc and E1 with a jump lead (paper clip), turning on the ignition and pumping the brake pedals more than 8 times in 3 seconds. But I cannot seem to get the light to reset.

Is there a trick to this procedure?

Sounds like Air in the ABS Pump. I'd try rebleeding the system.

Check the fuses under the dash. You may find one marked GAUGE, PANEL, or IGN, but check them all to be sure. Did you try disconnecting the Battery for a few minutes to reset the codes? I don't know the reset procedure for the Celica--the jumper/brake trick works on the RAV4.
