Previa 2.0 D4D Power Steering Pump

Toyota Previa. D4D 2.0 (2006 UK). Hi, my power steering went suddenly on a corner ... I noticed blinking Aircon lights soon after so suspected common belt problem. Lifted up the bonnet and found belt had come off due to loose pwr steering pump pulley wheel. The pulley wheel nut is still on but wheel has lost its teeth (maybe wasn`t tightly nutted up and wore over time i.e. splined shaft of pump has nothing to mate with hence no belt drive of the pwr steering pump. I've rotated the pump shaft between thumb and forefinger...its not particularly stiff or grinding and does rotates....so not sure why the pulley hub ground away it’s splines ??)....anyway, problem is, looks like in order to remove the pump, pulley wheel removal is needed 1st in order to get at the 3 bolts holding the pump onto its mounting bracket...problem is, to remove the retaining nut, reliance on holding the pulley wheel rigid is required else the nut just rotates the shaft. Don’t know how to get around this without attempting to hack saw the pulley wheel to bits? Any thoughts anyone?

oh....

have been trying to source a spare part (power steering pump and pulley wheel) it isn't as straight fwd on line as I thought it would be whether new or used (could only spot 2nd hand avensis part...which looks similar but can't be sure) Apart from that, thought about trying to remove the 3 bolts without taking pulley wheeel off - tried to see if spanners can fit....can't get enough leaverage using ring or open end spanners , plus sockets can't align (access through pulley wheel holes). Car is booked in for its annual service this coming Tuesday....just wanted to understand the options before I get the £1000 estimate to fix from my local dealer this coming week...

Anyway, I'm new to the club...sorry about going striaght into my current problem with the Previa...hope someone has experience of this and can advise. Note my Previa has been great but with one particualr issue with engine light coming on and dumping me without power in the outside lane of the motorway.....I've sorted this using RAV 4 club advice etc....was the SCV valve problem....removed , wd40'd them, replaced and symptoms went away for while...eventually bought new Toyota parts and problem solved (for 11 months at least....got an interruption on the motorway last month though...so sounds like will recurr sometime soon......anyway, anyone with engine light on leading to dealer saying its the turbo and £2000 bill or Fuel Pump £1500 bill.....think SCV valves (now about £185 for two solenoid valves)....Regards VERN
