Hi i've just joined the Toyota ownwers Club as I'm looking to replace my reliable 14 year old Avensis, which is my second Toyota i have owned. So I am now looking for something as reliable as my Avensis either another one or a verso, and the Owners Club is a good source of technical information that i will use to try and decide on my next Toyota.

cheers

Hi Phil, welcome to the club :)

I can heartily recommend the 1.8 petrol Verso, as this has had many thumbs-up from road testers and reliability surveys. There's no Dual Mass Flywheel, Diesel Particulate Filter or fancy injectors to go wrong - unlike the diesel versions. So from a used buying perspective, it's a lot safer bet for low bills ;)

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the welcome, and good advice I was just reading a review on Autotrader about an owner of a Corrolla Verso who'd purchased his car with a FSH but a month later the head gasket had gone, he stated that after looking at various forum sites that this ia a common event on the 2.2 diesel engine. I'd hadn't heard of many going wrong before but am I right in saying the 2.2 has now been replaced with 2.0 ltr engine on newer Verso models.

Also I know the 2.0 diesel in the Avensis has a timing chain rather than a belt I wondered weather the same applies for the Verso aswell.

cheers :fireman:
