Washing

Keep looking at my motor which is a little bit mucky. No mud or anything on it.

Can't help wondering if it is worth washing it with the weather as it is.

What are your thoughts ??

Mine's desperate for a wash, polish and wax Del. Valeted the inside last week but I can't get the outside done between the rain storms. Will put it through the brushless car wash just to get the worst off and then just hope we get a dry weekend soon.......................

One of the `new` waterless washes will do the job great, Optimum Opti Clean being one of the best

What happens with the grit Dave ?- I know similar systems are used on race cars but II'd be worried about trashing the paint.

If the paint it very gritty or muddy either presoak and use ONR or hose first.

With waterless being so quick and easy the idea is to keep on top of it and not to let the muck build up.

Heres a nice write up on using ONR etc from my mate Steve

lovely sunny day today, so now is the time to get out and wash it, I know mine will get the wash treatment today along with the hose for the first time since they lifted the hose pipe ban.

Pass my sincere complimentarianisms to yer mate Steve, Dave, and much as I am still very much a novice at this Car detailing shuch, without having read his article I would have dismissed ONR as dangerous nonsense and a deffo way to encourage The Swirlies and scratches.

I still have my Red Indian Dwelling Places, some may call them reservations, but I will give it a go in the autumn on part of both Ravs., which always get a good polish and wax prior t'winter. Should it have any adverse effects like holographicitis and swirlies, ah will get out ma Dave Doll and stick pins in it......

Big Kev

I think the car detailers would turn over in their lamswool mits at the thought of waterless wiping. Not for me I'm afraid.

Its a thankless task but if you really want to preserve that paint it has to be washed frequently. The wheels take me longest.

......and also having been away for two weeks, I am now totally convinced that somebody has been filming "Primeval" in ma street, and some Dodo Burds and Teradactyls CAME THROUGH WAN OF THEM "ANOMOLIES"......have never seen burds' turds that size before....!!!!!

Could always get some toilet paper, but they'll be miles away by now,,,,,,

Sorry but your wrong ... the post from my mate Steve is from the detailing World forum where Optimum No Rinse (ONR) is very very popular as a rinseless/waterless type product. :P

Oh and Kev... feel free to use the pins but I`ve used ONR for at least 5yrs now so know you can throw your pin cushion in the bin. :D

Wee afterthought.....I would thoroughly discourage anybody doing a waterless wash whilst parked at a beach....Steve obviously knows his stuff, but with the airborne sand, his car will end up looking like my old Etch-a-Sketch...!!!!

You have problems with seagulls as well Kev!!!!

Whilst I can see Daves point I would be reluctant to use ONR. I would follow that route as a back up to a routine wash and valet, as a intermediate clean up ( slight dust on car and not much else)

Regards Clare

PS good point about sand, living where i am it is always floating in the air.

Good to have you back, bronzed Kev?

Dave,it's no good telling him to throw the pins away.Have you no idea how many dolls he's got in that garage..

I know one has my name on because I have not had any stabbing pains for the past fortnight,

Well got home from shopping and thought its dry so got the buckets and hosepipe all laid out.

Could not find the shampoo, bet my lad has that. Bye bye that then!!!

I even had my shirt off then, sun hot on my back and started to fill the buckets.

You are right, within seconds it P'd down so gave up for today.

Never mind there will be another day.
