Cycle Carrier For Aygo/c1/107

Thought I'd report my cycle carrier experiences because I see lots of questons about them on the Internet.

After doing a bit of research I bought a Westfalia cycle carrier which is made specifically for the Aygo/C1/107. I have a brand new 2012 Aygo Ice and can confirm nothing has changed re fitting the carrier.

I managed to find it much cheaper than the list price, Towequipe do it for around £150.

Fitting is really easy. There are two mounting points underneath the car and the brackets bolt on to these. Four nuts and bolts and job done.

Next job was the electrics. The carrier comes with a socket into which you can plug a lighting bar since the Aygo's rear lights and reg plate will be partially obscrured and that's 3 points on your licence. The left carrier bracket has a mounting point for the socket so the job looks very neat.

I decided to have the job done professionally so took the car to a trailer specialist who wired up the socket and fitted a fuse and relay with audiable indicator, neither of which were supplied with the kit. They also supplied me with a reg plate and the lighting bar - total cost £84 as opposed to £144 without lighting bar and reg plate quoted by my Toyota dealer.

All I need now is some nice weather, lol!
