I'm in no way trying to worry you and it's more than likely nothing as serious/expensive!

I had similar symptoms on a previous 2 year old Vauxhall and it was the steering rack. It had to be changed, fortunately the warranty covered it. It only happened when manoeuvring and not every time though, so was difficult to replicate at the dealers.

However, it was a common, known manufacturing fault. Something to do with the initial greasing on assembly! Either lack of it or the wrong type.

You may have a loose drive belt to the power steering pump (that is if it is not an electric one).

Solution: tighten it.

Ok,So it might be just a small problem..

Try releasing the steering wheel clamp and pulling the wheel in and out several times. This will grease the steering wheel shaft.

Then re-clamp the wheel to see if that made any difference.
