Hi guys,

wonder if you can help me, Im running a 2005 Toyota Avensis D4D, and I seem to be hearing a weird "tappety" noise, bit like when you get something caught in the spokes of a bicycle wheel?

Seems to happen just before the Turbo kicks in below 2000prm, when full throttle then stops...

Is this a turbo problem...the car has just passed 125,000 miles whether this is alot of miles i dont know

Had a similar noise from my 2008 2.2 turned out to be the connection between the air intake tube and air filter box causing vibration, I just drilled a pilot hole between the two connections and inserted a self tapping screw into to it to stop the assembly vibrating. This may be the cause.? two garages thought that the turbo was vibrating !!!!!!!
