Just a bit of fun would be interested to see what you all think, as im still bemused why people cant see how great this car is??? I pick the YTS because the other models are given the credit the deserve, but the YTS is almost forgotten by most people as a warm hatch contender.

BTW the because its not a Ford or Saxo awnser, isnt because there good cars its just another example of the general publics mentality.

Thanks

I think all the Yarii are not given enough credit in the UK (well apart from Jeremy Clarkson that is who cant seem to get enough! :D )

On the forums though, you can see how well respected the YTS is, its the one most people on here own and the one most people talk about!

In fact I dont recollect ANYONE on here apart from me owning a T-Spirit, let alone talking about one! I was going to buy a T-Sport but my budget wouldnt stretch to it unfortunately, so I chose the T-Spirit, but afaic its a lovely car and I'm chuffed to bits with it!

I voted for the Toyota Marketing, I think if they marketed it as a serious contender for other hot hatches, then it would sell in drones. They advertise the Yaris as a model as "a car to be proud of", but I think the T-Sport needs its own advertising, maybe as the fiesty little devil of the Yaris Family...

Maybe I should send some advertising ideas to Toyota... :D

Yeah your right, all the yarii are great (hence all the awards) and the YTS needs its own advertising, i do like the idea though you should send it off to Toyota :hokus-pokus:

Well Ford advertise the SportKA as the KA's Evil Twin.... perhaps something along those lines for the YTS.

Boy do I have some cracking ideas or what!

Also thinking of it, Ford, Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen etc etc are the most popular makes of cars in the UK. They're so popular they bore me as there are so many about - one of the reasons I chose a Yaris. (Cripes hope my partner doesnt read this - he drives a Peugeot 206! :shutit: )

Before my Yaris I owned a Daewoo Matiz, lovely little first car, highly underrated - basically a laughing stock of a car just because it is different to a Ford. I of course wasnt having a bean of it so I argued the toss with everyone who begged to differ! Since then Daewoo have been bought by GM and are seen as having slightly more cred but not much. Toyota have a lot more credibility than Daewoo it has to be said!

I will think of loads of marketing ideas and send them to Toyota, I'm thinking along the lines of beast, devil - is something evil without nicking Fords evil twin idea! :D

I think it should be kept quiet about the Yaris!

Otherwise when people realise how good the car is, everyone will want one and the exclusiveness will be gone.

Thats A Very Good Point one of the reasons most of us brought a Yaris in the first place i suppose, to be different.

Theres one thing that could have changed the popularity problem probably for the worse....and thats the YTS-T.

Yes the car we all wanted, the one I sat in at the motorshow in Birmingham less than 2 years ago. The small turbo fun car was back in the mould of the RST. Sadly Toyota pulled out at the last minute but i'm sure you all know its available in Japan...........In fact i've seen one for sale in the uk at 11k! :o

......now wheres that Turbo kit i promised myself?

i dont think its just fast enough. but as far a performance compared to insureance goes the YTS is the best thats why i got one. but the likes of saxo VTS and 106 GTi they are only 100cc larger capacity and they smoke the YTS hands down in performance.

i agree with the voice of reason keep the Tsport secret

if the vts/106 are quicker 20miles down the road parts will drop

off em!!! the yaris will keep going

they are also very common unlike the Tsport

hey ms speed from wat ive heared from ev 1 else here u should love the t sport, partly the reason for me sellin my 1lt and upgrading

i agree one of the reasons i choose the yaris was becuase it was different, you didnt see that many about, and compared to other cars within its group it seemed to jst win in my eye. To some extent yes it would be nice to have some more respect, the amount of times my mate digs at me owning a yaris ( him being a corsa sport boy) , but to see the look on some of thier faces when u unleash the beastly power of the t sport on them is jst amasing.. my mate was amased by the power a 1lt had him owning a 1.3 car felt very simular to his.

Therefore keeping it more hush hush means tha car wont become so common as others such as the corsa, saxo, 106, 306, fiesta etc the yaris has a sense of class around it, stylish, but when seeing one you dont think of it being common.

ps jst wanted to share this with u, what a damn sexy car

kosei%20racer%20-%20yaris.jpg

i was thinking of those, or simular rims to go on mine, for a thundergrey t sport, wat u think??

Charlie

I don't think its respected by the younger generation for a few reasons.

When its advertized isn't it always advertized by a woman? And its advertized as a car you might love too much (but in a sappy way). Its a car that is deffiently marketed towards the female gender.

There is nothing wrong with that, I'm all for getting hot chicks in fast cars, but I think that is why its not a widely respected vehicle.

But... who is it not respected by? Idiots who think corsa's and saxo's are good? I have some mates who are really into cars, and they don't laugh at the yaris cus they know what it can do. I'm sure if everyone drove the Yaris, everyone would like it in some way or another. Its just waiting for that day.

Anyway, as stated, its great that its still unknown by most people. As they pull up in their Corsa or Mk2 Golf they will get a big shock!

Remember there is a car very much like the Yaris. The Lupo GTI, that too has a rep. for being a bit girly, and is totally underated. It is THE best VW GTI model on sale atm. I was very tempted to get one of these, however when seeing one it shocked me how very girly it looked, plus its just a bit too expensive still. 6 gears and 0-60 in 8secs is very nice tho.

I owned a Mint series 2 Escort RST before i brought my YTS and i can tell you a lot of my mates thought i had gone mad when i swapped cars.

But the truth of the matter is the Ford was quick in a straight line and it sounded like heaven, but it was sooooo expensive to keep in good nick, the handling was pants and rust was starting to creep in.

The YTS is much more fun on the twisties, im always confident that ill reach my destination without calling the AA to lend a hand and i no longer need to fight that deadly torque steer

Now 2 years on my mates have much respect for the car as they have experienced its lively charecter first hand, but they are still put off by the "femenine" image created by Toyota (as mentioned by s0cks), but hey there loss :D

Thanks for joining in with the poll guys n gals

Hiya chuck, thanks for the welcome..

Im sure i will love it, my fist car was a KA and then i had a laguna, so at last i will have somthing decent! :D

i do think the yaris is more aimed at woman, just look inside it! how many cubby holes and storage spaces!?!? :o

also, it has a divers mirror on the sun visor! ha ha

definatly a woman feature...

but i have seen some bad yaris's out there with guys behind the wheel and they dont look even a bit girly!!

They advertise the Yaris as a model as "a car to be proud of", but I think the T-Sport needs its own advertising

i agree with that, in all the adverts they do use YTS but just dont go to promote it.

In a way i suppose it's good cause because its not so common on the road and people underestimate it :P
