92 Camry: Reverse Lights Light When Brakes Applied

Hi all

Quick question Im hoping anyone can help me with:

1992 Camry - when I apply the brakes, both the reverse gear indicator on the dash and my actual reverse lights both come on. The reverse lights and indicator work fine independently of the brakes as well. Ive checked the wiring and all seems good (as much as I can tell). Didnt know what else could be causing it.

Any help / ideas would be appreciated!!

Thanks

David

Thanks for the quick reply - That is a great suggestion -- unfortunately, I already checked that section as Ive read that it is a pretty common area for these types of problems to occur.

I dont know for sure, but Im thinking it might be something in the transmission gear shifter as the "R" light on the dashboard comes on when the brakes are applied.

You could check the neutral safety switch but I'm having trouble associating it with the brake lights.Maybe you could check all of the grounds to the rear lights.(Another problem area.)
