Hi beachy. did you find out the cause of the oil pressure light. i have the same problem but mine stays on. i have been told that it may be a faulty switch or a big engine job.

no replys yet but I live in hope?? Mine just came on for a second or two...But on all my other cars I would have been worried!!!

This may seem patronising but have you checked the oil level?? How many miles has the car covered? Have the oil/filter been changed regularly? Are there any deep rumbling or knocking noises coming from the engine?

oil level is ok. just had a full service. i heard some noise but didn't last for long

This is from a previous posting

I have found out that there was far to much oil and thats why the oil light came on and stead on when above 2000 rpm. From other info I have read if there is too little oil, the oil light will flash - I don't know if thats true or not.

Something else that I found interesting is that when I put in 4.0 litres of oil, then checked the oil level and it was well below the low level mark so I finished of the 5 litre can let the oil settle then turned the engine the level seemed ok. I checked it two days (not hours) later and it was above the high level mark. The orange light came on when on the motorway and reving at 2500 to 3000 rpm (60-70mph). So I had to take some out by loosening the filter. This is a month ago and there has been no light since. I rekon 4.0 to 4.5 litres of oil is ok.

I dont know if this helps you but I know the sinking feeling when you see this light.

All the best

Patrick
