New Avensis - Couple Of Questions

First of all, not a new Avensis but new to me.

It's a 2006 T4 D-4D saloon with 56k on the clock.

I have a couple of questions:-

  1. The Sat Nav doesn't appear to work properly. When I go into the menu most of the options are "greyed" out and cannot be selected. I tried taking the disk out and re-inserting but it did not do anything for this problem.
  2. Is the Sat Nav worth having? From what I see it seems to be a pretty user unfriendly system. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.
  3. Like a few others on the forum, I'm having issues with the air con not blowing very cold. Is this a common problem. Is there a weak point in the system?
  4. Can anyone recommend a hands free phone kit?

Thanks all,

Damian.

Hi,

Sorry I cant help you with any of the questions but would like to tell you that either there arent many active members on this forum or most expect you to know most of the things bout the car as I recently bought a petrol avensis and posted some questions and so farr have failed to get any adequate help.

Dont rely on folks here and try to look for help else where.

No Offence intended to any one but this is my experience from this forum.

I can give a general answer on the air con, but not specific to your car.

If the air con is not switched on regularly, the seals around the system may shrink a little letting causing leaks. The gases used in the air con contain lubricants which keeps the seals in good condition.

Your air con may need a re-gas.

Regarding hands free kits, there are plenty available.

Parrot, Nokia and one I use Novaro.

They are plug and play, using the connection of the incar audio system.

They tend to use euro connectors - you may have to buy adaptors to plug in the kit.

The best place for these kits are car audio specialists, local and on the web.

I will not comment directly on the 2 first replies about help on this forum but, I try and respond if I know the answer, or am available.
