Toyota Rav4 1996 Dif Lock Problem

hi guys 1996 5 door have put new clutch in its fine but now dif lock probs on pressing the dif lock switch, dif lock warning light comes on, when switching off the dif lock, the buzzer is on all the time, when turning tight corners at low speed its as if the brakes are coming on but its not the brakes any help at all would be brilliant

Sounds like you have locked the Diff, you shouldn't really drive it until the Diff is unlocked and the alarm stops.

To do this, get yourself onto an even flat surface, get the wheel straight, then reverse back in a straight line, stop, then forward in a direct straight line again. Do this (maybe need to do it more than once) and the Diff should sort disengage and the alarm should stop.

They sometimes stick a bit and you need to reverse to get it to drop out. If it still doesn't then you have got the selector fork stuck when you put the box back in. It isn't uncommon but it is a fiddle to get it back (read that as complete @rse).

Look at the attached pdf. Its the bit called the differential lock actuator. It only hooks over the selector shaft and you have missed it. You can undo the vacuum chamber and hook it on but you will swear while you do it. You don't need to take the box out again.
