Problem With 1.0 Yaris

a good friend of mine has the 1.0 yaris and recently its been a little bit grumpy

basically under acceleration the car seems to 'back off' and !Removed! as its going, which is highly noticable as you can feel the car jumping and struggling

so far its had an oil change, new plugs, new air filter but to no avail.

over the past 6 months its really had a good run so my expectation was the engine could be choked up. but after a good 40mile thrash and drive its still unhappy???

may try some fuel flush shortly but wondered if anyone else has had a similar problem?

whats the age and mileage. Could be air flow meter/map sensor or O2 Sensor.

Try some injector cleaner in the tank and see if that helps.

Most modern cars with OBDII and beyond ECU's wont allow the re-setting by Battery disconnection anymore. They will require a plug in module to re-set the the ECU and also tell you if the ECU has saved any fault codes.

Toyota dealers will have the Module and also some of the larger independant garages.

Has your friend been using dodge brand of fuel for a long time?

tesco etc are murder for an engine, especially if its a tweaked or hig performance engine.

Doe the Yaris have a knock sensor as the engine could be pinking hence the ecu goes into retardation to save components.
