I own a 2000 Tundra with 54000 miles. I'm going to change my automatic tranmission fluid soon. I've owned mostly domestic autos in the past where you normally drop the tranny pan, change the filter, install a new gasket, put the pan back on and fill it up. I've learned that my Tundra does not have a "filter" rather a screen and also does not have a pan gasket. I also think there is a drain plug which most domestic auto trannys don't have. I guess my question is this: Is there any type of filtration that I need to clean? A screen, maybe? Do I need to drop the pan to change my transmission fluid? I'm also surprised to learn that there are only about 2 quarts of fluid in there. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So what I'm seeing here is that no one has ever changed the transmission fluid in a Tundra?

:( I have a 2001 Tundra and no transmission, it had all the check ups but now I have to have the transmission rebuilt, about 88thousand. Anyone else have problems?
