Yaris Hybrid Deck Board Missing

The current Yaris brochure (dated April 2013) on the Toyota site does not list the dual level deck board as part of the specification for any Yaris. The one photograph of the boot space in the same brochure, shows the seats fully folded an the caption states:

"2.Storage is plentiful with compartments throughout the vehicle. Image shown is with the optional dual level deck board."

My experience of having 17 new cars has been if it is not listed as part of the spec in the brochure, you don't have it.

My Mrs Yaris HSD didn't have one - and what is more annoying (other than the price of one from the parts dept) is that the cover fitted in the boot over the spare wheel is very flimsy.

We bought one and it is very sturdy, but also pretty light.

Should have been supplied with, and I find it incredible that on such an expensive car (for the size etc) it was missing something so basic.

And with Mr T, even if it is listed as part of the spec in the brochure, you still might not get it.

The dual-zone climate control!

The three years, regardless of mileage, warranty cover if you take out an extended warranty!

It all adds to the bad taste left by the weasel warranty, and the ridiculous satnav update cost and procedure.

E & OE, thats why it's in the brochure, the brochure is "an offer to treat" and may not contain the correct spec, it is correct at time of going to press, even if that spec is dropped before it hits the showroom

Sat Nav update prices are on a par with every other car manufacturer

Kingo

The four DVD set for the GEN II is quite a lot cheaper than the last price I was quoted for the GEN III hard drive update. Still too expensive.

Or has the cost come down recently?

My Yaris T4 has the board. Comes with the Pro pack (£250 odd) along with carpet mats, mud flaps, and side mouldings for the doors. I reckoned it was worth it for the side protection in Sainsburys!

Wow again! It's only a bit of plywood with cloth stuck on it. Anyone could make one for a tenner!

The loss of crafts mans skills which were once commonplace alas means that anyone could not make them for themselves, Unfortunately , a dwindling number of people would have the tools , knowledge or skill to undertake what would have been called an easy task years ago. Its become almost fashionable to know very little about anything which involves hands on practical ability, almost to the point of ridicule in some cases. You are right, A nice piece of 1/4" marine ply, jigsawed to shape, sanded off to clean the edges up and with a piece of black unholsterers cloth stuck onto it would come to about a tenner; a saving of over £100. The purchase of a cheap jigsaw , sander, workbench and glue would just about cover that. Still, people prefer to spend their funds on not bothering to aquire any specialist skill/ ability. I cant understand it..

I pick up my new Yaris tomorrow 21st May to replace my Verso S

When I ordered it I mentioned about the lack of deck board and the salesman immediately included it in the deal .....Zero cost.....also a boot liner and many other extras :)

It's not plywood though. Much lighter for its thickness, which was a surprise. It's some kind of particle board but not made (solely) out of wood. Seems to have some plastics in it. I suppose if you want to lug the extra weight of plywood around then fine, but for me, I decided to pay the ransom and buy one. Still think it should have been included as part of the package.

So Geoff, £10 for the deck, you have now got £240 to make mud flaps, carpets, and side protectors, all out of plywood. ?...... I bet you were a Blue Peter fan...........lol :)
