Firstly hello,I have just bought a 2008 Prius t spirit and I am upto press very pleased with the car .

The problem I have is one of the keys will not lock or unlock the doors it starts the car ok I have changed the Battery and the small light in the fob works I do not want to go down the road of buying a new key unless I have to any ideas anyone.

Hi.

It does sound like one of your key fobs is broken. AIUI the transmitter in the key fob is only used for locking and unlocking, the key fob slot in the dash uses induction and the key fob apparently doesn't even need a coin Battery for the Prius to start.

Any obvious signs of damage to the key fob, such as stuck buttons, or wear that may indicate that the key fob has been dropped?

you could ask your dealer to try programming the vehicle to work with that keyfob in case it was wiped. Not a bad idea to get the memory fully cleared and program back in your two keys, just in case there is a third one out there which you don't have.

Maybe it was a replacement fob and only the immobiliser was programmed for the ignition but not the transmitter for the central locking/alarm. Or as suggested above, the transmitter part could just be broken.
