Rav 4 2.2 D4D Coolant Problem

Hi, I'm new to this forum after just buying a 2007 Rav 4 2.2 diesel.

I'm impressed with the car but having a problem with the coolant blowing out from the expansion tank pressure valve.

I've replaced the cap but its still happening. After reading some of the posts on this site it seems likely that the head gaske its blown and overpressurising the expansion tank so I'm going to have to see the dealer.

There is mention of the engine being under warranty up to 7 yrs or 112k miles but I can't see this in the Handbook info. Is this correct? If so is it written down anywhere. I'd like to know the facts before I go to the dealer.

Thanks

Hi Ivanwulf,

Had the same problem early this year and resulted in a 3/4 engine.

Look here http://www.toyotaown...ed +block +test

My dealership done the gasket first then 2weeks later recalled the car back to do the engine.

Best of luck.

Thanks, Doosan

I've read through your thread and it looks like the same problem.

Been to the dealer and its booked in for Thursday for a diagnostic and also for a recall that has just been issued regarding the rear suspension linkages.

I'll see how I get on then and post the result.
