Storage Tray Removal

Hi folks

On the 4.2 model ( My one ),their is a small storage tray directly under the steering column,i want to re locate my CB radio under there.

Trouble is i need to remove this tray to allow the CB hang further back away from my knees whilst driving.

I can see one screw from just indside the drop down tray next to it.....screw undone....

I can then release the four slide in clips under the dash reasonable easily.the tray then swings back & upwards

But......there are three clips of some sort at the top ( back ) of the tray i just cant release.

Once i have these clips released, the tray will come out and i have a slot big enough for my CB

Anybody know how to undo these clips....they are quite tough.,before i damage things.:(

Wish I could help.. Sorry. My old cb is way too bIg, I'd probably need a trailer for it!

I can't help on those specific clips, but I do know that the whole trim panel under the steering wheel comes loose very easily. The two bottom screws are visible, the top one is under the little panel that holds the door mirror control and security light etc. It pops off with a thumbnail. Once the screws are undone, the tabs round the edges unclip easily.

You should be able to get it free enough to see the back of the clips that are holding you up. I know it might seem like a load of extra hassle, but it would help you avoid breaking the plastic.
