Remote Transmitters

I have just bought a 1999 Landcruiser 3 litre diesel. It came with only one key and one Toyota radio fob.

It works but the range is almost non existent ( it has a new battery).

All the functions work, including the alarm.

I have found a box behind the central dashboard panel. This says it is a Toyota security unit.

Has anyone got any ideas as to how to improve the range? Does it have an aerial?

Could I replace it with a new system?

Hi this was a common fault you could try extending the aerial cable but won't make much difference
