Hi

I think this one may have asked before may be Don can help.

A 2008 XT3 D4D diesel has it got DPF if not does it needed low saps oil or will a good 5W30 fully synthetic oil do the job.

Is it only the 180s and any Rav after 2009 that has a DPF.

Regards Steve

Hi Steve,

Spot on - only the 180's, certainly of your vintage, have the DPF.

Toyota say ( drivers handbook ) that you COULD use either a 5W30, 10W30 ( down to -18oC or even 15W40 ( down to about -12oC ) . To quote: "SAE 5W30 is the best choice, for good fuel economy, and good starting in cold weather"

A few people on here, Anchorman and I included, use Morris Multivis 5W30 Semi-synthetic and change the oil twice a year even if they are only doing a low mileage.

Reminder: must change mine in the next couple of weeks!

Mine is coming up soon too. I have some Shell Helix fully synthetic so will use that but as soon as it is gone, back to Morris's.

Thanks for that Chris and Don I won't bother with low saps oil as it will almost cost twice as much as a good fully synthetic 5W30 and no need if there is no dpf fitted.
