Starter motors too can be a weak point, not enough ooomph to crank it over at the right speed!

Is it just a case of bad Battery leads connections or indeed the Battery itself. when cheching the Battery leads dont forget the earth lead connection on the chassis and the one on the starter motor.

What is SCV? It seems to turn over fine, just struggles to start? Could it not be holding fuel pressure? Do they not have a low pressure pump on them?

SCV - solenoid or suction control valve mounted on the high pressure fuel injection pump and allow pump to suck a diesel.

I'm having a similar problem. The Battery is only a year old, but will check the contacts in ground and starter.

How do you check if the glow plugs are fine?

How do you check scv?

I was also wondering if changing a fuel filter would help, but where the **** is that...?

If necessary, how do I know if starter motor needs to be fixed/changed?

check with MAF sensor; throttle and rail pressure sensor.

just searched for "SCV" and get no results, can you help further, please.

Hello mate, I think Igor is referring to this ...

Edit, there is something amiss with the forum as it won't let me attach any files maybe a moderator be able to help, i've tried several times over the last couple of days without any luck. I can't even add an emoticon or insert, ie copy and paste a picture/ diagram into a reply, it does actually paste in but disappears when I click on post, very strange!

Pete.
