Had this problem a while now yet it has passed all Car tests ie NCT,,

The problem initally would not start straight away, you would be driving a while before it would kick in so i guess the engine would be warmed up

But lately it happens straight away just this Grinding Rough Noise , i dont hear it in 1st Gear but when i accelerate i hear it if i take my foot off acceleration it stays for a bit

Of course its more noticeable when the Radio and window is open,

also i had the exhaust checked a while ago and its fine???

Thanks in Advance.

I had a noise similar.... Only heard it when changing upto 3 and when at idle when revving to 1500 or so. Pinned it down to the air intake into the airfilter box. The sponge around the intake had degraded and made a really loud vibration.

I have an update on this

when i am in 1st gear there is no grinding noise when i am in 2,3,4,5, there is when i take my foot of accelerator quite noisy and when i engage the clutch when the noise is there it goes away

would this be the Gear box or the clutch ???

Eventually the bearing will fail and car won't drive. With the coolant issue, what model is it? Have you had a head gasket test done at a local dealer if its a diesel
