Horn Problem....

Hi

I recently changed the horn button on my aftermarket steering wheel and since then, it is not working.

I then put the original one back on and even that is not working now!

Have I blown the fuse?

I checked the horn fuse in the fuse box and its rather big then a conventional one.

Shall i replace it? :(

Thanks!

Well, if it's broken then yes you should replace the fuse. What do you mean by saying the fuse if larger than normal? Are you saying that the rating is higher than what it should be? If this is so, replace it with one of the correct rating. If it has been replaced with a higher rating fuse, it could mean two things:

1. When it blew before, there were no spares of the right type

2. A higher rating was fitted because a fault on the circuit kept making one of the normal rating blow.

If 2. is the case, you need to get the circuit checked out, since a fault could cause a fire.

Thanks for your reply.

I checked the fuse box again.

There is one fuse for "hazard horn" and one unconventional bulky fuse for "horn".

It seems that the bulky one cannot be removed.

The fuse for the hazard horn seems ok thou!

As far as I can make out the horn should only have one fuse, a 15A one. It does have a relay too. Is this what you're looking at? The relay could be dead. If you take the steering wheel off again, what happens if you touch the two contacts together that connect up to the switch on the steering wheel? The horn(s) should sound.
