Hi everyone!

So here is my strange story... My rav4 was stolen a month ago, but after 2 weeks police found it abandoned in a barn where rats had done their work on it!

I replaced the chewed wires... and installed better car alarm with immobiliser.

But the worst part - an awful smell of rat !Removed!/pee from air blower! Every time i turn air blower on, all cabin fills up with this horrible smell!

So i wonder, where air intake for cabin is, so i can clean it?

Please help!

Hi ginnnts, there is an air filter for the cabin under the glovebox.

Just open it and sqeeze the sides together and it will hinge right down.

Looking in you will see a rectangular cover with a clip on each end ( on mine this is white),pull this out and you will have the filter in your hand.

I would not recommend trying to wash this, only fit a new one as they are treated in a special way for maximum efficency.

Contact The Parts King (Kingo) and he will arrange a new one for you if he returns from his hols next week

Thanks for suggestion! :)

Will try to replace it tomorrow... cabin air filters cost starting only from 5eur in my county!

I just wonder - if cabin filter is a source of bad smell, did the rats get in the blower an pooped there? :ermm:

I wonder if you can get one of those 'air-con bombs' that they use for purging bacterial growth that build up in the aircon systems to clean out the air system?

I remember Kingo mentioning something about it some years ago...?

You buy a little aerosol that sits on the passenger side floor and just discharges on its own with the heater on full power recirculate. It really needs the new cabin filter in first and do the whole thing.
