Anti Virus Question

I am looking at Norton Anti Virus 2004 Pro.

I note that this product contains 2 licenses.

I intend to load the software to 1 computer in April 2004 and to my second computer in July 2004. The second installation is delayed because it already has advance paid subscription AV until July.

I am hoping that the subscription for live update will run for 12 months from each installation however it has occurred to me that the subscription could run from the first installation.

With this in mind can anyone confirm when the subscriptions activate - in other words can I have 2 subscriptions running with different expiries using the 2 licenses supplied with one product or put another way when I do my second installation in July 04 will it expire in July 05 or April 05 ? ?

Have e mailed Symantec but no response yet.

Thanx.

Well

For a start the license is only valid for one machine, installing on another machine is not permitted by the license.

However, if you do install on the second machine it will work fine, and the subscription will start from the day of installation on the second machine and not the first machine.

I should add that installing on the second machine infringes the license.

This actual product has 2 LICENCES as part of it's selling point. They want you to install it on 2 different computers. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

the 2nd licence should take effect from installation date & registration date.

Ha - yeah it's not really the licence side of it I'm thinking about - it's that when you install you get a 12 month subscription to update the thing live in the Internet.

I'm just trying to make sure I get the full 12 months of this service on the second installation.

Norton have replied to me enquiry:

Dear Mr xxx,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Your subscription on the second computer should not run until you install

it. Because it will have a different account id form the other computer.

If there would be a mistake and the subscription will not be correct, you

can send us the account id from the second computer and we will correct it

for you.

(Account id to be found by opening the product, selecting help in the top

right hand corner and then selecting "About Norton AntiVirus")

If we can be of further assistance, please reply to this message.

When replying, please be sure to include this and any other pertinent

correspondence in your message.
