Is it because fewer people are having issues with their car?

This forum aint like it used to be..IMO it's gone down hill.

where is everbody?

One thing I have noticed about this site over the last few weeks is that it is becoming slower and slower. Now, I am not the quickest person on a computer by any stretch of the imagination but each page takes several seconds to load and then several more before the scroll bar will work. does anyone else agree?

Maybe they are having fewer problems. But the person who only uses the site when they have a problem may do well to remember that they are hoping someone will answer and hopefully solve it for them! I do not have any problems with my Yaris, and if I did, since it is only a year old, the dealer will have to solve them. This does not however prevent me looking at the forum and helping people where I can. Now long retired, I have been in the motor trade all my life therefore I am in a position to suggest solutions from sixty years experience. However many people I feel contribute little and expect much. Everyone can contribute at their own level of knowledge and expertise, In my opinion a great many people could participate in different ways, not just when they have a problem. I do find the attitude of some people selfish in this respect. Just my thoughts you understand, what do other members think?

Haven't noticed any particular problems with the site loading or becoming slow. Certainly nothing like the issues that the 'Honest John' website had until recently.

This is the second post this year complaining that the Yaris forum isn't what it used to be.

Forums are dependent on member contributions and some are used more than others. For example the Urban Cruiser forum has had 69 topics raised, the Auris forum over 2,800, and the Yaris forum over 12,600.

From a quick look at some of the forum pages tonight, approx 60% of the topics raised seem to be issues or questions, whether major or minor, that owners have.

In my opinion it is a shame that we don't hear more about owner's levels of satisfaction with their cars - particulary the good news rather than the bad news.

Many people read the forums and see owners asking for help, but have no advice they can give them which is fair enough.

Many people read the introductions but dont bother to post a welcome, there is no excuse for that,

so why read them in the first place if they are not going to make an effort to say hello etc.

I suppose it would be worse if it was full of complaints :) Yaris owners must be happy then :driving:

I'm still here! :D

I was briefly the owner of two Mk1's too

My 3-door D4D has now been passed down to my brother who recently passed his test (Woo!) which gave me a really good excuse to get a 5-door one

It's surprising the subtle differences between the two; The 3-door seems to have much better handling and feedback from the wheel.

The 5-door is a 54 so one year younger; It seems to be slightly more powerful but the wheel feedback is worse; It somehow feels even more over-assisted than normal!

One odd thing is the 54-plate one has a very noticeable turbo whistle under high load that the 53-plate doesn't. Is this something to be concerned about? Maybe a leaky air hose somewhere?

Thanks, that is reassuring :)

I have started using it as an indicator that I'm wasting fuel so it's got a silverlining ;)

My D4D has averaged 55.9mpg over the past 3 years.. could not be bothered to go back further.

Most of that 60% shortish journeys.

(The Jaxx 1.4CVT is averaging 51 but it's hardly bedded in with only 500 miles on it.. but it's a lot quieter and smoother)

My experience is only with the mark 1 Yaris but most users on here now seem to have the mark 2 (and 3). How are all the old mark1 drivers doing?!

My 2012 SR Auto is going for the 1st Service (10,000 Miles) in the next fortnight. Nothing really to report prior to the actual service , but i did request them to change the front tyres to the back and vice versa , as they are 1mm less on the front than the back.

At the moment mainly doing town miles , and just about getting 38-39 MPG opposed to the usual 46 MPG motorway stretch.

Regarding the tyres. My wifes Yaris had its first service last month. The front tyres were slightly more worn at the outside than the centre. Even wear across the tyre so not tracking, would indicate low pressure. The dealer set the pressure at 35p.s.i. which is higher than the 33p.s.i. in the handbook. Inside the glovebox is a label giving 'eco pressures' for the tyres, slightly higher than normal as the optimum for miles per gallon and tyre wear. Just worth a thought!

Visually mine seems to have even wear on the front set of tyres. According to the label , the pressure is 32 psi on the front and 29 psi on the rear. There is another rating stating 35 psi on front and 30 psi on back.

I check my pressures almost every week and i not really noticed a massive drop at all , just the usual 1 or 1.5 psi under.

Is your wives an SR with 16 inch rims ? My SR has the Bridgestone Ecopia tyres, not the Yokohamas as most people got when they received their SR MK3s

I'm still running 38psi on the front and 35 on the rear. Still haven't died or experienced any loss of control, car still accelerates and brakes strongly and stably. Tyre wear is still totally even across the face. :)

Had to restart my mpg tracking since this is a new car, but I've done 300miles on half a tank, so looking good! :yahoo:

I'm currently trying to remember what I did in my old Yaris to stop the windows misting up; This new one is very prone to it for some reason... Still, aircon abuse is still an effective workaround :D

What're people people putting on their wheels these days? I'm back on the stock bridgestones on this new car and am already missing my Eco3's :crybaby:

It is a TR with 175/65 -15 tyres. Dunlop faster response it declares on the tyre, whatever that may mean! Just the tyres fitted when the car was new.
