Rear Shock Absorbers

My 3 year old Rav4 failed its first MOT a week ago with both rear shocks leaking, my local Toyota dealer says it cant get any new ones for at least 12 days. The only reason I can think for the delay is that they don't usually fail. Anyone got any ideas ?

I noticed 3 of mine were weeping slightly when I serviced it 3weeks ago. It was 8 days before its 3rd birthday. Rang my dealer, dropped it in for them to have a look and they stuck 4 new ones on F.O.C under warranty. I wonder if they are using an updated shock and waiting for them to come in?
