Hey there, was registered before, but forgot my username, so had to re register lol.

I wonder if someone can help me, Got an avensis, just gone out today and found that some little git has tried to take the badges, damaging the front Badge, and scratching the paintwork trying to take the rear!

Does anyone know if 'de-badging' a car is legal? also, do I really have to take it to a bodyshop to get it done?

is there a way of me doing it myself, I have just read one tip n trick, to peel the badges off then remove the adhesive with turps??? wont this harm the pain work??

please help

:help: a die hard toyota fan!!!!

1. no its not allegal to de-badge a car in any way shape or form.

2. if you want it done properly then take it to a good body shop

3. you can do it your self but it takes a lot of patience and work if you want to get it looking right.

and forth welcome back to the club mate

just wondering, if any avensis owners out there, or toyota owners for that fact, with pics of a de badged car, I need to convince the wife of the improvement in looks as well as the less chance of damage! :)

I would have to agree with your wife and say they don't look good. I find that cars without their badges look very plain as there is no central view point, and also when you come to sell it raises questions about why have they been removed - possible accident damage etc, its only a small thing but can get minds wondering, it also makes it look as though your ashamed to own a Toyota Avensis, a bit like when some young rep takes the 318 Badge of his beemer to hide the fact that he's on the first rung of the company car ladder.

I am going to keep the badges, well, buy a new one for front when it comes to selling, but I would rather have a plain looking well kept car, than one with scratches where kids have tried to take the badges off, far cheaper in the long run than loads of visits to a body shop
