:help: Hi, after Titto took my car out I have been experiencing problems with the power. There is water in the no. 1 cylinder and i fear the head gasket is going? Any other ideas as to why power is lost now and again. I have no idea how much this is going to cost or the best thing to do?

Best idea is to find out exactly what was done with your motor mate. then get it down to a good garage that can do a compression test on it. that will tell you if the head is on the way out......if it is start saving the pennies mate :crybaby::eek:

 gave it the titto magic!!!

Oi Jamie, cant believe you blamed it on me you gimp!

Its a 1991 Revision 1 MR2 and i drove it to see what the difference was without the Cat on it (like on mine) and what a difference - you can actually tell - Jamies revs much quicker and you can feel it accelerate better.

But he came to work t'other day and said he had water in it - I pointed him in the direction of all you chaps (im sure someones mentioned head gaskets and loss of power before???)

Laters....

coolant in cylinders = head gasket, what mine did.

Stock gasket is £50, then about £500 to dealer, independant garage about £300. but i'd do it your self but get the head skimmed (£70) and fit a metal head gasket £120

Good luck..... Does sound like there is a leak in the existing gasket, that would explain the water in no1 cylinder. TBH until they get the head off you won't know what you're in for. If they have to do quite a lot of skimming, it would be best to use the metal gasket. These are thinker and will make up for the metal lost due to skimming and keep the compression ratio more or less the same.
