Hey guys. I have an 4A-FE in my 'rolla. WHat kinds of tricks do you guys know that would help squeeze more power out of it.

And like the subject say, What's the L4 mean? The research on the vehicle yeilds that it is an L4 4A-FE. Can anyone let me know what it means??

L4 means its an inline 4 cylinder engine.

As for squeezing power out of this engine....

- Shave the head

- Port and Polish the head

- Consider lighten the flywheel

- Use a performance chip

Let me know how things go. I also have a Corolla with a 4A-FE engine that I need to modify

My latest idea is to swap it out for an 4A-GE. I found one at a local Pick-N-Pull for $150 US. So I'm going to rebuilt it with heat resistant head and rods and probably supercharge it.

But until then, I'm going with the basic bold ons for the AFE. Headers, high-flow airfilter, cold-air intake, cat-back exhaust.
