Alarm Set Unset Buttons Not Working On Ignition Key

Alarm set unset buttons not working on ignition key .

Changed Battery after I found it wouldn't set or unset alarm . Strangely it will unlock the doors ( sometimes ) if I walk round to the passenger door and pink it right beside the door but nowhere else so I'm supposing that the key transponder / signal sender is not working and the key is faulty . Anyone any advice . Only happened today . Will not lock the car by remote now only by manually key locking drivers door .

Hi mate what do you mean wont set the alarm?? is your alarm not built into the central locking system by remote on key??

and have you another key to try and see if your key that you are currently using is failing??? where are you from??

Living in Dublin . Only have the car two weeks . Only got one key . The key will not central lock / set alarm after journey when I arrive home . This is an intermittent fault . Sometimes it locks / unlocks as it should . But now its happening every day . Oddly enough the steering wheel lock unly locks sometimes so I assume someone forced it or broke it in the past . Perhaps it was stolen in the past . Another odd thing is that when the key stops operating it WILL lock the car but ONLY standing beside the passenger side door and even then you have to be standing directly beside the door . Really puzzled :(. Any advice would be appreciated .

Ha ha , last owner polish guy who spouted it had timing chain done , new discs , full service , new tyres ( ha ha ha :) , NONE of which was done :) and asked about keys but told it was the only one .

Regarding key not communicating with central locking / alarm .

I have noticed that the times alarm setting won't work are the times when I return to the house and don't set alarm / central locking IMMEDIATELY . If I stop car , get out and press lock immediately it WILL set . IF I spend 5 minutes taking out messages , or working on car , or cleaning it , it will not set , so perhaps it's a time thing . Very confusing .

god i'd keep and eye out incase he steals it back sorry if that sounds bad but it has happened!!! have you tried to resync the keys to the car and see if that helps?? get yourself a chain and padlock and lock the chain on the steering..have you asked for advice in your toyota dealer to see if they have a heart and help you in some way without digging deep into your pocket??

yep, that thought occured to me the moment i bought it :) will almost definitely have to hand her in to a car electrics specialist as i dont think its solveable , the other strange thing is that it seems to set and reset no problem AWAYfrom the house , its as if someone or something has something jamming the signal ,really strange, little paranoid regarding security on the car and house but thats normal living in dublin around christmas, gotta be careful.

just verified one thing and that is that the problem ONLY occurs outside my house. so the signal is being jammed by some signal closeby. strange, very strange. i did buy a brand new Battery from an automobile key company and tested it and away from the house the signal will work some distance from the car.as upposed to outside the house where being right beside the car i cant set the central locking. never heard of this happening to ANYONE.:(

TIS A PUZZLEMENT.
