Hello all,

Anyone else noticed that the horn on the new model Corollas (02 onwards) sound more like it belonged on a moped?

Has anyone tried to replace it with a 'proper' two-tone horn (not compressor horn)? What about fuse rating? Connectors? etc...

Comments this way please :)

Firebrether - you are joking right?

AFAICS the fuse for the horn on my Corolla is rated 10A. So with this in mind you should be able to fit at least one, possibly two of these -> Fiamm AM80 / AM100 horns

I believe cars like VW/AUDI etc., come factory fitted with a pair of Fiamm horns.

Apparently Lexus IS200 also come with moped stylee horn. I guess people are more polite drivers in Japan. :)

Anyone knows where you can buy Fiamm horns in the UK?

Sorry Firebreather, I didn't mean to insult you. I really thought you were joking. :)

I saw the nautilus horn as well. I'm sure it's good, just a little ware of compressor horns as they have a compressor motor which tends to consume large amounts of power (high current) and are less durable than a normal resonating horn.

Suppose one could simply visit a car scrapyard and get some old ones. But it would be nice to be able to buy new ones.

Found it! These guys sell Fiamm and other makes > TopGear UK

I'm sure I read somewhere horn levels (no pun intended!) was low due to EU rules!

What the ........

Surely it should be the other way round-what is the point in telling someone not to back into you because your horn is about as loud as a cat meowing!

Flippin EU.

My winter car (late model Audi 80) has a great 2 tone horn.

There are plenty of these in breakers yards. Just a thought.
